Craggs Energy Raises over £1,300 for Age UK Calderdale & Kirklees

Calderdale-based Craggs Energy, which has provided domestic, agriculture and commercial fuel services to customers across the North West and Yorkshire for more than 13 years, has donated over £1,300 to Age UK Calderdale & Kirklees as part of its ‘What matters to you, matters to us’ commitment.

Ranging from free digital training through to Handyperson services, and even Yoga sessions, Age UK Calderdale & Kirklees provides a vital point of contact, support and information for older people across the region.

Part of Craggs Energy’s ‘Giving Back’ commitment, funds have been donated to Age UK Calderdale & Kirklees for every fuel and oil delivery made from March through to the end of June, providing much needed money for the charity.

Rachel Horner, Chief Executive of Age UK Calderdale & Kirklees, said: “We can’t thank Craggs Energy and their customers enough. Their support has been fantastic and will enable us to help older members of the community enjoy a better quality of life, which is a truly wonderful thing.”

Since becoming employee-owned in 2022, Craggs Energy has focused on introducing a series of rewards and initiatives designed to enhance customer experience and loyalty, at the same time as supporting the communities in which it works.

This has included the introduction of Craggs Energy’s Cold Weather Priority Scheme, ensuring that customers with medical conditions that make them susceptible to the cold, or those over the age of 75, receive priority deliveries of heating oil during cold-weather snaps.

Craggs Energy also became the first fuel delivery company in the North of England to reduce minimum orders of heating oil for pensioners from 500 litres to just 300 litres, which helps spread the cost of heating oil into smaller instalments.

Matthew Crockett, CEO of Craggs Energy, explains: “We’re big believers in people and working together towards a shared goal. That’s why we launched the ‘giving back’ scheme, as we knew it was something that our customers would really get behind.

“Through their orders, we have been able to raise a four-figure sum that will now go towards helping older members of our community, many of whom we deliver heating oil to in remote rural locations and off-grid villages.

“For us, it’s great to know that this winter we will be providing a lifeline to older members of our community in more ways than one; through our support for Age UK Calderdale and Kirklees, and through heating oil delivered by a friendly face when our customers need it most.”

Matthew Crockett added: “Being employee owned is a passion and a commitment. We exist to fuel the heartbeat of our local community, and that includes supporting charities that make a meaningful difference to our communities.”

Users of heating oil interested in joining Craggs Energy can do so by joining its Cosy Heating Club, which gives monthly Direct Debit customers the chance to win 500 litres of heating oil every quarter, alongside a suite of other benefits.
